Introducing the agents and editors for PBParty 2022! We can’t wait for you to see them and hope the finalists and Illustration Showcase author/illustrators will receive even more requests than last year…which was an impressive 232! (In 2020 they received 171 requests.)
Please read our PBParty contest announcement post and FAQ here.
Submission day is Tuesday March 1, 2022 during two windows
Midnight to 1 am EST
5 pm – 7 pm EST
The Google form entry links will be on my blog by February 28th. The forms will remain locked other than those two windows. You may send only one entry. There is a separate form for author/illustrators that allows them to upload two images.
Here’s what you’ll need for the Google form. We highly suggest you create a file with everything you’ll need and make sure it’s as strong as possible before the submission window opens.
Please give a shout out to author/illustrator Melissa Escobar for creating the PBParty contest logo and other art. They’re all incredible! I can’t stop smiling at the adorable party animals.
I’m so grateful for all the judges who are donating their time to help make publishing dreams come true. Please thank:
* Matt Tesoriero * Gabriele Davis * Sylvia Chen * Jenna Waldman * Aixa Perez-Prado * Lori Degman *
We can’t wait to read your entries!
Note: Listed agents and editors have agreed to take part in the contest, but that doesn’t mean they’ll make requests or that life won’t happen and prevent them from appearing. Everyone will do their best.

Let us know your reaction to seeing all the incredible participating agents and editors! I normally post this list later…so I have a feeling we’ll receive a bunch of additional yeses. If so, I’ll post them above and share on Twitter. I’ve been squealing and celebrating for each yes, and am thrilled to share them with you. 🙂
I can’t wait to share more entry tips and what some of the agents and editors say they’re hoping to find to help you choose which manuscript to enter. I hope you’ll browse the PBParty Success Stories with helpful tips for you (most have a query that worked)!
PBParty 2021 finalist and 2022 Judge, Sylvia Chen, gathered lots of tips from her experience last year and has been sharing them on Twitter!
I’ve been asking agents and editors what they hope to find…or avoid. I’ll post about that in the future. Heads up: it’s clear bios are an extremely tough sell right now. If you’re deciding between a bio and a different manuscript that’s about as strong–your chances will probably be higher with the other genre.
If you’d like fresh eyes on the manuscript you want to enter, I hope you’ll join us for the PBParty New Draft Challenge and Critique Train on February 20. With the contest coming up, you can see if your critiquer will take a peek at your query, too…so both your manuscript and query will be ready to dazzle.
Psssst…I have an AMAZING surprise for you! I’ll post it by Friday night (January 21). 🎉
*If you want to receive new blog posts by e-mail, don’t forget to subscribe in the upper right of my website (if you’re on a phone, it might be near the bottom).
I’m sending lots of good revision vibes your way and can’t wait to see your entries on March 1st!
