Dear PBParty agents, editors and art directors,
One secret-agent in a bright red coat, one crafty wolf, a village of missing grannies, and a cookie recipe–CODE NAME: LITTLE RED is a spy spin on Grimms’ fairytale classic Little Red Riding Hood.
When Special-agent Izzy goes undercover as Little Red to stop a wolf, her perfect plan to catch him seems foolproof. But she soon discovers the real threat isn’t the wolf and will learn that a spy’s best tools are quick thinking and maybe a stick of softened butter.
My 563-word humorous picture book manuscript is ideal for fans of Cranky Crabby Crow [Corey R.Tabor], Spy Kids and Bear and The Three Goldilocks [Patrick Horne]. It includes a secret cookie recipe to decode and spy glossary for budding spies.
I’m an author/illustrator, a member of SCBWI, Julie Hedlund’s 12×12 Picture Book Challenge and the Mighty Kidlit community. I hold a BFA in Painting, a BS in Medical Illustration, and support myself as a freelance art director/designer.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

The news was grim.
[Art: Newspaper headline: VILLAGE GRANNIES GO MISSING! WOLF ON THE LAM!]
Special-agent Izzy called Spy Headquarters. “I’m going undercover–stop this wolf once and for all!” The Mission was a Go. The Plan: Trick Wolf. Get him to Granny’s. Catch him red-handed.
She grabbed a bright red coat and packed her gear. [spy gadgets] Little Red was ready.
What inspired you to write this story & what do you have in common with it:
I wondered how Little Red Riding Hood could have possibly been fooled by a Wolf in a bad Granny disguise. My only conclusion was that she must have known the whole time and that perhaps she was a spy trying to catch him! Personally, I love mysteries and remember being captivated by Nancy Drew and Harriet the Spy books as a child. And I love humorous stories.
