PBParty 2021 Google Forms & Twitter Tips

February 28, 2021 Posted by Mindy Alyse Weiss PBParty 23 Comments

I’m excited that PBParty is about to start! I’m sure it’ll be another amazing year full of new friendships, requests and Success Stories.

Here are the contest details.

And here’s the list of the 44 amazing agents and editors who will view the finalists and Illustration Showcase.

You can only submit one entry. The Google forms will be open on Monday, March 1:

Midnight – 1 am EST

6 pm – 8 pm EST

Once the windows close, they won’t open again until the 2022 contest.

Here’s a World Clock to help make sure you don’t miss the submission windows.

World Clock

There are two Google forms. Please make sure you use the right one.

Here’s the Google form for writers.

Here’s the Google form for author/illustrators.

You MUST have a Google account to use the author/illustrator form. Make sure you have one (and know how to log into it) before the short submission windows open. This is ONLY for author/illustrators who are including illustrations with their entry.

If you can’t access a computer during those times, please ask a friend or relative to enter your information for you.

You can’t revise your entry once submitted so check, and double, then triple check everything before you hit submit. You only have one chance to submit…so please take the time to make sure you’re happy with your entry.

After you hit submit, there will be a message saying thank you for entering. That is your confirmation. There will not be an email confirmation.

I’ll share the titles of the finalists on my website by March 21 (and am hoping it’ll be earlier than that).

Good luck! The judges and I can’t wait to read your entries and will tweet tips and teasers as we go through them.

In addition to PBParty Celebration Sunday and Motivation Monday, I’ll tweet a daily chat topic every morning in March at 9 am EST. It’s inspiring, helpful, and fun to celebrate our favorite picture books, authors & illustrators, share tips, roadblocks, and questions. I can’t wait for them to start! Since some of you are newer to Twitter chats, here are some tips:

*You can find the tweets on my Twitter feed. If it’s later in the day and I’ve tweeted a lot, one trick is to look at my media posts. You can also find them on the #PBParty hashtag.

*If you look up a hashtag like #PBParty, #PBPitch, and #PBChat, Twitter automatically shows you the top tweets, which can make you miss a lot of them. Click on LATEST toward the top of the page, and you’ll see the most recent tweets first.

*Make sure you put #PBParty in all your replies, so everyone can see your tweets.

*The #PBParty chats are a fantastic way to make new friends who love picture books as much as you do. Don’t be shy. Tweet your response to the daily question, then hop over and like or comment on other tweets.

*If you like someone’s tweets, follow them!

*It helps to show who you are in your profile. Make sure you have a photo (even if you don’t want one of yourself—illustrations, pets, etc. work great). Saying you’re a writer is good…but it’s even better to add things like PB and SCBWI. I almost always follow back if I can tell we have kidlit in common, but if I can’t tell who you are, I won’t follow. Make it easy for people to know you’d be great to follow. 🙂

*If you want to see responses to a tweet, click on it and scroll down. It’s a great way to see replies to the daily questions I post all in one place.

Mark your calendars for the next PBParty New Draft Challenge & Critique Train on March 25!

You’re welcome, Allison. Thanks for your sweet message.

When you reply to #PBParty tweets, make sure you use # instead of @ so everyone will see your tweets. 🙂

Yes–the form will only be open from 6 pm – 8 pm EST tonight. There’s no way to let people view the form without submitting. But it’s really easy to use–people have been raving about it. Good luck. 🙂

Don’t worry, Dawn–the final PBParty submission window starts at 6pm EST (it’s 4:38 PM now). Look up at the Word Clock for help. And I’ve been tweeting countdowns to help everyone, too.

      Good luck!
