Thanks, Susie! I like it on the post itself, but I can’t get the box with the info to show up in the preview on my blog page or Success Story page. It puts the text all on one line instead of three.

It might be the best I can do without hiring someone. But I’m not giving up yet. 😉

Mindy, this may not work with the program you’re using, but have you tried “Ctrl/Shift” at the end of each line?

          Thanks, Susie.

I can’t imagine it working though. I built my website on WordPress and for the Success Stories, have different blocks and they all smooshed together.

I have a couple ideas that might help. If not, I might need to reach out to a programmer. I want the entries to be as easy as possible for the agents and editors! Here’s how they looked when Michelle did them: https://michellehauckwrites.com/contest/picture-book-party-spring-2020/ Her programmer did an amazing job. I was thrilled that I figured out how to make the boxes with text appear in the post…but the only way I can get them to show up on a page listing so far is if the entire post shows.

Off to try a few more things. Wish me luck!!!!

Thank you for giving so many examples of what’s needed. I’m a newbie here, and all of this helps! From a fellow Mindy/ Melinda (still always amazed when I hear another Mindy. Not many of us out there. :))

It looks great Mindy! Question, can the query be of typical length?

Thanks, Sharalyn. This was just a test for me to see if the formatting is ready for me to input the finalists (once they’re chosen). I didn’t want to have to scramble around once the entries come in.

Yes–the query should be the typical length! It should be exactly what you’d send to an agent/editor minus the personalized opening (but you can still add a thank you for this contest, for participating, etc.) Two of the Success Stories I shared have their queries that worked. https://mindyalyseweiss.com/pbparty-success-stories/

And you can see a few of the entries from last year (many asked to be taken down, but a few are still up). https://michellehauckwrites.com/contest/picture-book-party-spring-2020/

This is just awesome. Thank you Mindy.

    So we need:

    1. Title
    2. Genre
    3. Word Count of total PB MS?
    4. Query (any length including the Hook, Book, Cook method)?
    5. Excerpt (first 70 words max of MS)?

Those are all the items that will be pulled from the form for the online final showcase…but the form itself asks for a few additional simple items, like your name and e-mail. You can see the full list in the first FAQ of the contest page: https://mindyalyseweiss.com/pbparty-annual-contest/

And yes–the word count is for the full manuscript.

Note to everyone: This is all the info I’ll be pulling from the Google form for the online finalist entries in the agent/editor round…but the Google form will ask you for a few easy additional items like your name, e-mail, and Twitter handle. You can find the full list in the first FAQ on the contest page: https://mindyalyseweiss.com/pbparty-annual-contest/

The only entries that will be showcased on my website are the finalists, plus art for the Illustration Showcase.

    Hi Mindy,
Thanks for this post. It looks great. This is my first #pbparty and I hope I don’t mess up.
Since I’m in California on PT I can enter during the 12 am EST window, even though it is still Feb. 28th here, right?
