Dear PBParty Agents and Editors,
Thank you for participating in this year’s PBParty.
I’m a little salty. You can’t drink my water, hardly anything lives in me, and I smell like rotten eggs.
SALTY: THE STORY OF THE GREAT SALT LAKE is a 700-word informational fiction book that explores the history and future of the Great Salt Lake. It blends humor with facts while educating children about the important ecosystem of the lake and how to protect it for future generations. It’s sassy, a little gassy, and maybe even shallow (the lake, that is). There is a potential for back matter with this book.

Thank you for taking the time to review.
Excerpt:
I’m a little salty.
Well, a lot salty. At least that’s what everyone says.
Saltier than an order of French fries.
Saltier than a plate full of bacon.
And saltier than the ocean!
But hey, they’re the ones who named me the GREAT Salt Lake. (I was also named Big Water and Bad Water. The Big Bad Great Salty Lake. I like that name).
What inspired you to write this story & what do you have in common with it:
It will likely come as no surprise that I am extremely familiar with the Great Salt Lake, having grown up with its salty embrace. The past few years have generated much community discussion about the benefits of the Great Salt Lake and its influence on the local ecosystem, economy, and health of the local neighbors. With changes in climate and water being diverted to other causes, the lake is in serious danger of being destroyed—and with it would be dire consequences. This book is to raise awareness of the beauty of the lake in all its saltiness and offers a plea to help protect it.
